TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay’s bid for a fourth straight NFC South title and fifth consecutive playoff berth is gaining momentum. Back-to-back wins over a pair of last-place teams , combined with Atlanta’s three-game losing streak, have propelled the Bucs (6-6) to a tie atop the division. Although the Falcons (6-6) hold a tiebreaker after sweeping the season series between the teams, Tampa Bay can control its own destiny by finishing strong against a less than imposing schedule. The Bucs, who are back in the thick of the race after beating the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers, figure to be favored in four of their five remaining games. “Every week, we said it’s a playoff game, we got to take care of us. It’s not going to be easy. President-elect Trump has said he would prefer to move towards a peace deal, and has claimed he could end the conflict on “day one” of his time in power. As he attempts to strike up a good relationship with the incoming president, Sir Keir revealed he had told Mr Trump the UK “will invest more deeply than ever in this transatlantic bond with our American friends in the years to come”. In his speech at London’s Guildhall, the Prime Minister said there is “no question it is right we support Ukraine”, as the UK’s aid to Kyiv is “deeply in our self-interest”. Allowing Russia to win the war would mean “other autocrats would believe they can follow Putin’s example,” he warned. (AP) — Malik Nabers said calling the New York Giants “soft” after Sunday's embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a mistake, although the star rookie receiver still plans to speak out when he thinks it's necessary. After talking with coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen and watching video of the Giants' 30-7 defeat , Nabers said Tuesday that "soft” was a poor choice of words. “I don’t think it was really soft. I think it was just a lack of technique,” Nabers said. “We were playing our butts off, we just lacked technique.” The Giants (2-9) trailed 23-0 at halftime and had run only 19 plays on offense. Nabers was not targeted in first the half but still finished with a team-high six catches for 64 yards. The No. 6 overall pick in the draft, Nabers said his rant after the game — in which he said the Giants' quarterbacks weren't to blame for the team's poor performance — was just the competitor in him talking. “That’s just how I’m wired. That’s just who I am,” he said. “I just don’t like losing. The motion is expected to be introduced on Thursday and the debate and vote are set for Monday. Singh said he is not going to trigger an election when he believes Poilievre would cut programs the NDP fought for. “I’m not going to be playing Pierre Poilievre’s games. I have no interest in that. We’re frankly not going to allow him to cut the things that people need. I want to actually have dental care expanded, I want people to actually start to benefit from the pharmacare legislation we passed,” Singh said. With the NDP’s expected support, the Liberals should survive this next confidence vote brought forward by the Conservatives. The Tories have vowed to bring forward non-confidence motions every chance they get. The party will have two more opposition motions after this one, which are expected to continue to call for non-confidence. The NDP are scheduled to have their opposition day on Friday. Earlier on Tuesday, Singh did acknowledge that the Conservatives have a sizeable lead on the NDP in public opinion polls, while giving a campaign-style speech to visiting party staffers from across the country. Most pollsters in Canada have recorded a roughly 20 point lead for the Conservatives over both the Liberals and NDP for the last few months. The non-confidence vote was scheduled after Speaker Greg Fergus intervened to pause a filibuster on a privilege debate about a green technology fund. The Conservatives have said they would only end that debate if the NDP agree to topple the government or if the Liberals turn over unredacted documents at the centre of the parliamentary gridlock. Senators on Thursday sent two bills to the voting file to attempt an override of Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero’s veto. It was day one of what is likely to be the final session of the 37th Guam Legislature. Session will resume at 9 a.m. Friday with more than a dozen bills on the agenda that have yet to be discussed. Sen. Frank Blas Jr., who is expected to be the new speaker of the incoming 38th Guam Legislature, moved his vetoed Bill 362-37 to the voting file. Fellow Republican Sen. Joanne Brown, who did not win re-election, also moved her Bill 227-37 to the voting file for a potential override. Blas’s Bill 362-37 would grant the Guam Fire Department with special crisis procurement authority “to ensure that there are sufficient stocked and equipped ambulances for emergency medical responses.” It was one of the measures passed during an emergency session, which Blas said he introduced because of the critical shortage of working ambulances at the time. Acting Fire Chief Daren Burrier, whose nomination is up for possible confirmation at this month’s final session, testified against the bill because he said it would not expedite the repair of the ambulances. But Blas said his bill was to address procurement of parts and services for repair and not about procurement of ambulances. “The fire department can use this for the purchase of parts that they have been waiting for months to be able to obtain, months that have led to an extreme shortage of ambulances,” Blas said. Brown followed with a successful motion to also move her vetoed Bill 227-37 to the voting file. The bill seeks to “maintain the independent status of the public auditor by appropriating one-quarter of one percent of the government of Guam’s annual budget to the Office of Public Accountability.” While the measure would remove the Legislature’s traditional direct budget authority over OPA, Brown said it could be justified for OPA so that it could contain government spending abuses. “I want to make sure the public auditor has the sharpest pencil in reviewing how many is spent in this government, if it’s not properly spent, if it’s misused or abused, then by all means I want that public auditor to bring these things to light,” Brown said. Brown’s earlier motion to get Bill 30-37 to the voting file for a possible override vote, failed.
